In October 2025, working as a statistician, I discovered agentic AI: a model working inside what developers call a code harness, or scaffold. It changed how I thought analytical work should be done — and how urgently.
Agentic AI has already changed software development forever. Most people who work with data and evidence, but don't write much code, haven't yet realised it is coming for their work too.
The divide between the two was never fundamentally about the work. It was about how expensive the tooling used to be to learn. That cost just collapsed — in both directions. People who analyse can now produce software. Software teams can now produce statistical outputs.
There used to be good reasons for analytical and technical work to be separate. But now there aren't. A little technical know-how can help analytical folk massively, and a little analytical knowledge can help technical folk massively too.
My work is at that seam — making the two sides understand each other, enough to work well together. The method has a name: the knowledge tree.

- The core essentials of software development tooling and practice;
- The emerging art of understanding and working effectively with Agentic AI.
Agentic AI moves your centre of gravity away from implementation, towards specification, review and judgement — the parts that were always yours.
Done well, that means work that is faster and more creative and more auditable. In regulated, evidence-driven fields, the auditability is the part that gets paid for.
You already build software
For developers, I teach analytical concepts and concerns to help you understand the interests and requirements of analytical knowledge workers.
Given your background, I assume you already have the technical know-how to use Agentic AI effectively.
Because it's now so much quicker to write software, your field has opened up massively. (See: The Jevons Paradox)
Analytical knowledge workers need you to do their work to the highest standards. Concepts like git-based version control, manifests, CI/CD, and test suites: all immensely valuable to them. (Even if they don't know it yet.)
