What we collect, and why

If you ask for a consultation, we collect your name and email address, and whatever you choose to tell us about your work in your email and on the call. If you arrive from the self-assessment quiz, your result is placed in the draft email, where you can change or delete it before sending. This is to help us prepare for, run, and follow up the conversation you asked for. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you initiated.

We do not sell, share or trade your information. Asking for a consultation does not add you to any mailing list.

Where your information lives

Consultations are arranged by email. Our email, the calendar event and the video call are provided by Google (Workspace: Gmail, Calendar and Meet), which acts as our processor and has its own privacy policy. What you send may be kept in our private working notes.

Some buttons on this site open an email that is copied to rabbie@ktandb.co.uk, and the page says so where they do. Messages sent or copied to that address are read by an automated assistant, an AI agent run by the company, which keeps the company's diary and can reply with suggested times. If you would rather it did not see your message, remove that address before sending, or write to hello@ktandb.co.uk alone. More about Rabbie.

Recording and AI transcription — your choice, asked explicitly

Before the call, we ask directly whether you agree to the call being recorded and transcribed using AI. This lets us produce your written follow-up quickly and accurately, from what was actually said rather than from memory.

If you say yes: the recording is made and stored on our own machines only — no third-party recording bot joins the call — and transcription runs with AI on that same hardware. The recording is deleted within 30 days of your follow-up being sent; the transcript is kept as our record of the conversation and deleted on request. Where AI tools assist in preparing your follow-up, we use them only under terms that do not train on your data. You can change your mind at any point — say "no recording" during the call and it stops, or ask afterwards and the recording and transcript are deleted.

If you say no: no recording, no transcription, and your follow-up is written from notes. Saying no has no effect on the consultation itself.

Mailing list — only if you ask

If you sign up on the Writing like Lightning page, we collect your email address and, if you give them, your name and your answers to a few questions about what you write, where you write it, your sector, and what you are interested in. The lawful basis is your consent. We use the answers only to choose what to send you and to judge whether there is enough interest to run a masterclass somewhere.

Sign-up is double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the link in a confirmation email. There are two separate consents, and the second is never ticked for you: the Writing like Lightning introduction and masterclass news, and, only if you tick the box, other news from Knowledge Tree and Butterfly. The list is held by Buttondown, which acts as our processor and sends the emails; the form itself is handled by Cloudflare, which hosts this site. Both have their own privacy policies.

We switch off open and click tracking. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your details from the list. You can also ask us to delete them at any time by email.

Retention and your rights

We keep enquiry information while it remains relevant to an active or recent conversation, and delete it on request. You have the right to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted — email hello@ktandb.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies or local storage and does not fingerprint or identify you. It tells us, in aggregate, which pages were viewed, where visitors came from (the referring site), and broad details such as country and browser type.
